Harmonizing innovation and tradition

Since the establishment in 1929, we, Furuya & Co., have provided intellectual property services to national and overseas clients for more than 90 years. Over that period, Japan dramatically evolved from a country that imported technology to a country with the state of art technology and, in recent years, it shows a significant presence as an intellectual property based nation. We are proud to have been able to play a role of some significance during such a historic transition.

Intellectual properties are associated with such notions as technological revolution or innovation, but rights such as patents and designs can be maintained over a long period of time such as 10 and 20 years, and trademarks can be maintained almost eternally through renewals. As such, as in the case of other properties, it is also quite important for intellectual properties to have a persistent quality that can withstand the test of time. We are convinced that we should continue to diligently pursue our daily work of providing intellectual property services to protect new values created through innovations, while cherishing a persistent quality of the created values, i.e., an aspect which may eventually be regarded as a tradition.
